Japan’s beauty, carried to the world’s heart

One-of-a-kind pieces that only the traditional craftsmanship of Japan can create,

carried to the world along with the spirit of old Japan —

this is “KOTO.”

The name comes from Kyoto, the city established as the new capital

when Heian-kyo was founded in the year 794.

As the center of Japan’s government and commerce,

the finest goods from across the country — including tribute

offered to the Emperor — were carried to Kyoto

by traveling merchants.

Across 1,200 years

“KOTO,”

just as the finest goods once gathered in Kyoto,

develops products made by hand

by Japan’s traditional craftsmen, true to the spirit of Japan.

From mock swords inspired by Bushido,

the spirit of the Japanese people,

to keepsake boxes made from genuine kimono silk,

taking their motif from the old tale “Princess Kaguya” —

these are beautifully brought back to life.

And, echoing the merchants of old

who once traveled across Japan to sell their wares,

we now carry them, in today’s online world,

to the hearts of people around the globe who love Japan.

Wishing that these beautiful, wonderful products —

which only “KOTO” can recreate and offer —

will reach you

carrying with them the greatest possible joy and happiness.
